Welcome to Issue 85 of Clearly YOU! Every second Wednesday, I share fresh ideas to help you rise above the noise and communicate clearly, confidently, and with your real personality leading the way. Not a subscriber? Sign up now!
Note: For some reason when I sent this out, the email subject line didn't update so it didn't match with the topic. Sigh. And there were a few other nibbley bits that didn't end up quite right. Technology... It's a frenemy.
Sometimes I just let it go but today, I felt the need to do better. So here's my newsletter. Again. With the nibbley bits corrected.
😊 I got a lovely compliment this week.
A business professional (with a fascinating line of work) booked a 1:1 Service package with me.

Anyhoo… I asked what made them reach out, and they said, “Oh! I remember you from a podcast you were on about a year ago.”
A year ago! Like 12 months. I can barely remember what I ate yesterday, so this alone is remarkable.
But here’s the kicker:
- They couldn’t remember the podcast name.
- They couldn’t recall exactly what I was talking about.
But they did remember how I made them feel.
They said I came across as “warm and friendly,” and that vibe was so sticky it kept me top of mind for an entire year.
👉 This is your reminder: people may forget your words. They may forget your offers. But they’ll never forget how you make them feel.
Your vibe is your superpower.
Cool Quote
“How you make people feel will outlast every pitch and presentation.”

- Ask 3–5 people you trust (colleagues, clients, friends):
“What’s the first word or feeling that comes to mind when you think of me?”
- Write down what they say. Look for patterns. Do certain words keep popping up? (e.g. approachable, calm, focused, funny)
-
Ask yourself: Does this match how I want people to experience me?
- If yes... yay for you! Lean into it.
- If not... choose one small shift you can make this week (tone of emails, energy in meetings, how you open conversations) to move closer to your ideal vibe.
Your vibe is your superpower. The clearer you are about it, the stronger it gets.
Stuff Worth Sharing
Here’s the secret to that “warm and friendly” vibe I apparently radiate into the universe…
It’s not because I’m always ON. And it’s definitely not because I’m fake‑smiling my way through life (hard pass on toxic positivity).
The truth? Your vibe starts with how you actually show up - your energy, your presence, the way you make people feel. And no one explains this better than Simon Sinek.
It’s a short and sweet masterclass on why your energy speaks louder than anything else.
Inbox-Worthy
If you’re loving this whole “your vibe is your superpower” thing and want more of that energy in your inbox, you need to check out Jeff Matlow’s newsletter, The Best Leadership Newsletter Ever.
It’s part Simon Sinek, part stand‑up routine, and 100% about showing up as the kind of leader people actually want to follow. Smart, human, and the exact opposite of boring business fluff.

For the Word Nerds
Savoir-faire (sav-wahr FAIR)
This very French term literally means “know-how,” but it’s really about having the confidence and grace to handle any situation with style.
Think of it as an unflappable energy—the kind of vibe people pick up on immediately. It radiates warmth and authority at the same time: you know your stuff, but you’re never smug about it.
Where are you on the savoir-faire scale? Personally, sometimes I’ve GOT IT at a beret‑wearing, croissant‑eating level. Other times… not so much. On those days, I’m more baseball cap than beret.
Thanks for reading. Back in your inbox August 6th. Until then:
